Stag's horn club moss (Lycopodium clavatum) cones, or fruiting bodies.

These structures, only a few centimetres long, grow in pairs and produce spores in the form of a fine yellow powder. The spores are dispersed on the wind to form new plants.

The club mosses have vascular tissue, and so are not true mosses. They are among the most ancient of all plants.
